About Mimi & Gigi's Bakery — A Maryland Cottage Food Business

Mimi & Gigi's Bakery is a licensed cottage food business operating in accordance with the Maryland Cottage Food Law (Maryland Code, Health-General Article § 21-301 et seq.). Our products are made in a home kitchen that has not been inspected by the Maryland Department of Health or any other regulatory authority.

As required by Maryland law, please note the following:

  • Our products are made in a home kitchen that is not subject to state or local licensing or inspection.
  • We sell directly to consumers only — our products are not available for resale through retail stores or other third-party sellers.
  • All products are non-potentially hazardous (shelf-stable) baked goods that do not require refrigeration for safety.
  • Annual gross sales from cottage food products do not exceed the Maryland state limit.

All of our products are made with love in small batches in our home kitchen in Maryland.

Our products are made in a home kitchen that also processes common allergens. We are not an allergen-free facility. Please review the information below carefully before ordering.

Common Allergens Present in Our Kitchen

The following allergens are regularly used in our kitchen and may be present in any of our products, even if not listed as a direct ingredient:

  • Wheat / Gluten — used in most baked goods
  • Eggs — used in most baked goods
  • Milk / Dairy — including butter, cream, and milk chocolate
  • Tree Nuts — including almonds, pecans, and walnuts
  • Peanuts
  • Soy — may be present in some chocolate and baking ingredients

Cross-Contact Notice

Because our products are made in a shared home kitchen environment, we cannot guarantee that any product is free from allergens, even if that allergen is not a listed ingredient. Cross-contact may occur during preparation, baking, or packaging.

If you have a severe food allergy or anaphylactic sensitivity, we strongly recommend that you do not order from us. Your safety is our top priority, and we want to be fully transparent about our kitchen environment.

Required Labeling Notice

As required by Maryland cottage food law, all of our products are labeled with the following statement:

"This product was made in a home kitchen that is not inspected by the Maryland Department of Health or a local health department."

This notice also appears on all product packaging at the time of delivery or pickup.
